Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS),
Government of Assam has invited application
for the recruitment of 03 Surveyor vacancy under the
World Bank funded AIWT Project. Interested and eligible candidates may apply

Job Information Details

Qualification & Experience:
Diploma in civil Engineering/B Tech/BE
any branch and sailors/officers with Navy/Officer coast guard survey experience
and with credentials from the National Society of Professional Surveyors or GIS
Certification Institute will be preferable or certification from Navy or
equivalent.
A hydro graphic surveyor with minimum 5
years of working experience in inland waters will be given preference.
Developed ENC charting solution for navigation in rivers using Hypack ENC
Editor/ preparation of electronic charts.
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge on the handling of 55 metres
(1100 tonnes) survey craft, fitted with Schottel propulsion system in such
waters. Knowledge on MS class dredgers for recording surveys, chart
preparations and maintenance of survey documents.
Instruments: Single beam & multi
beam echosounders, DGPS, RTK GPS and topographic equipment Auto levels, total
station & RTK.
Software: Hypack (for single beam echo
sounders), Auto CAD and E Survey CADD for data acquisition and processing.
Key Responsibilities:
Terms of reference for conducting survey
in shallow waters, with minimum under-keel clearance, rapid changes in depths
with seasonal fluctuations; largeranged tidal river. Surveyors will be required
to work in adverse weather conditions and spend extensive time out on boats
managing heavy measuring equipment.
Utilization
of specialized and advanced equipment on survey vessels to determine the
geography of a body of water, including the depth and physical features of the
body's floor. The Surveyor shall also take the data collected on survey vessels
and transform them into hydrographic models, which can be used for a wide
variety of purposes. The surveyor would also be required to dovetail the
required information with the night navigation charts for preparation by IIT,
Madras.
Related
administrative work in a government environment, handling small-scale
tendering, and union negotiations.
Remuneration: The consolidated remuneration will be Rs 1, 20,000/- for
Officer’s & Rs 75,000/- for sailors per month. The negotiated remuneration
will be as above or 30% hike on the current remuneration or last drawn salary
whichever is less. Depending on qualification, experience and competency of the
candidate, the remuneration is negotiable.
Age
Criteria: Not more than 50 years as on the date of
application.
Period of Service: The
duration of the assignment will be initially for a period of 1[One] year with a
provision of further extension till such time and as decided by the State
Project Director, AIWTD Society.
